The purpose of a member identity

The member identity is intended to give a person a consistent association name, an accountable point of communication, and an agreed framework for participation without requiring public disclosure of more personal information than the relationship reasonably needs.

Responsible boundaries

• It is an association identity, not a government-issued identity document.
• It does not erase a person’s legal identity or lawful obligations.
• It must not be used for deception, impersonation, fraud, or evasion.
• Legal identity may still be required for taxes, banking, employment verification, regulated transactions, or other lawful purposes.
• The association may require confidential verification while limiting public disclosure.
